This book is about a new feature for C# that was originally an add-on for C# 4.0 and was released as part of C# 5.0.

This is a book I recommend to all C# and VB.NET development teams and to any individual developers who is already familiar with the Dot Net framework. This book is a good introduction to an important new feature.

There are however three minor issues:
  • The example code is not a simple download but has to be obtained from a Mercurial repository. However you can download both VB.NET and C# sample data from¬†
  • The same feature was introduced to VB.NET at the same time. There should have been at least a brief paragraph to explain how Async and Wait translate from C# to VB.NET - the key words differ only in case!¬†
  • The usual O'Reilly Colophon explaining about the animal on the cover is missing!
