Brian Scarbeau Insights from a seasoned Computer Science Trainer

Several students were not finished with the task exercise for lesson 6. I spent today reviewing all of the activities in the student folders to make sure each worked properly. I then gave the students a print out of what was completed and what needed to get finished.

This gave me an opportunity to review the important concepts in the lesson such as postback, state, and databinding.

I have already introduced these concepts with my students and they have already completed one activity for the lesson so they had some idea of where these concepts would be used on their webpage.

The next lesson will be covered after the test tomorrow.  The students will create a band slide show of images using aspx controls. This chapter gives an overview of visual as well. Hopefully, students will get a better understanding of data types, conditional statements, loops, and arrays.

I need to remind myself when I'm teaching them that this is the first time they have been exposed to a programming language and they are not in a programming class but a web design class. I have to use the K.I.S.S. method.  Keep IT Simple ... You know what I mean.

I have all the confidence that some students will get what the concept is and have success at the lesson.
